Debra Hollinrake Positive Affirmation Message
from Intentional Power President & CEO

Please be sure your speakers are on.

"A promise must never be broken ."
~ Alexander Hamilton

* How can you apply this thought to your life?
* Do you always do what you say you’re going to do?
* Do you pay attention to the words you speak, or do you throw them out randomly without thinking about them?
* Do you or those around you believe you when you say you’ll do something?
* This week:
  1. When you find yourself in conversation and are about to write or say something that you intend to do, tell the listener you need to think for a moment before speaking. Then ask yourself the following five questions.
“Do I believe I will actually do what I’m saying?”
“Will the actions I’m promising realistically fit into my schedule?”
    “If so, when?”
“Can I guarantee a deadline by which I will follow through?”
“Can I be held absolutely accountable if I do not do what I say?”
  2. If the answer was “no” to any of those questions, rethink your proposition.
  3. If the person making the request is your boss, be prepared to explain why you can’t do it.
  4. If the person making the request or to whom you’re offering is a friend or family member, remind yourself that your well-being comes first.
  5. If you want to offer something of your own free will in the midst of conversation, be sure to ask yourself those five questions before you promise anything
* Remember, your word is as good as your promise and “a promise must never be broken.”
Here’s to a kind, respectful and forthright week!
