Debra Hollinrake Positive Affirmation Message
from Intentional Power President & CEO
Debra Hollinrake
Please be sure your speakers are on.

"In all things, be willing to listen to people around you. None of us is really smart enough to go it alone."
~ John Clendenin

* How can you apply this thought to your life?
* When you go about your daily activities, are you immersed in thought or do you listen to what?s going on around you? Listening = "hearing something with thoughtful attention." Is that how you listen?
* When listening to others with thoughtful attention, you become curious and tend to encourage the other person to continue
speaking, which earns respect from the other person and perhaps teaches you something new.
* This week, try this experiment. Anytime you come into contact with another person:
Be prepared. What is positively unique about that person?
Release preconceived notions. Let go of your judgments and opinions about that person.
Listen first - speak later. Imagine yourself spreading your arms, welcoming the other person to speak freely.
Practice sincere interest. The more interest you show in the other person, the more interested they will be in you.
Keep your mind active. Review the conversation in your mind. What was important about it?
Breathe and Smile. After reviewing the conversation, take a deep breath, smile, and then move on to your next activity.

Affirmation:

"In all things, I am willing to listen to people around me."

Here's to a generous, engaging, and wonder-filled week!
